Mizado Latin Kitchen Entertains the Living and Honors the Dead  with its Third Annual Day of the Dead Celebration

WHAT:             Mizado Latin Kitchen – a loose, engaging environment that celebrates the good life with a delicious take on modern Mexican and Latin American cuisine – is entertaining the living and honoring the dead with its third annual Day of the Dead Celebration. The festivities will feature a specialty menu and signature cocktail (in a special take-home glass); traditional Day of the Dead altar; and an exclusive Wake the Dead Kick-Off Party.

Wake the Dead Kick-Off Party: Saturday, October 8

-Extended Happy Hour, featuring: $3 frozen margaritas, $4 on the rocks margaritas, $5 sangrias, $4 mojitos, 2-for-1 draft beer (until 8 PM)

-Day of the Dead altar unveiled; guests are encouraged to bring a picture of a departed loved one to place at the altar

 

All Saints Brunch / Mizado Gives Back: Sunday, October 30

                        Brunch Specials (Lobster Benedict Peruana) and $10 Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marias; 1⁄2 gallon +

                        gallon Bloodys – grab ‘em to go if you’re tailgating for the Saints vs. Seahawks game!

 

WHY:               Mizado Latin Kitchen’s Day of the Dead Celebration is a way to honor and remember our departed loved ones. The Latin eatery hosts their “Dia de Los Muertos” to embrace the traditions of Latin culture while also emphasizing what New Orleans already does best – celebrating life and all it has to offer. To round out the festivities, a portion of proceeds on Sunday, October 30 will benefit Save Our Cemeteries in renovating the iconic Karstendiek tomb of Lafayette Cemetery #1.

Day of the Dead Specialty Menu includes:

  • Ceviche Tasting: Fresh Gulf tuna, Gulf shrimp, yellowtail, pomegranate leche de tigre
  • Day of the Dead Sampler: Guacamole “India” (avocado, date-cashew-banana chutney, cumin); Shrimp Ceviche (poached wild-caught Gulf shrimp, freshly squeezed lime, tomato, and grapefruit juices, cucumber, avocado, habanero, carrot, red onion, and cilantro); Anticucho de Carne (filet mignon skewers, chimichurri and agave borracha salsas); Duck Enfrijolada (roasted duck, grilled flour tortilla with black bean & chorizo puree, ancho, quesillo and cotija cheeses, cilantro and crema)
  • Grilled Veggie Ceviche: Freshly squeezed lime, tomato, and grapefruit juices, cucumber, grilled mirliton, edamame, avocado, cilantro, corn nuts
  • Lobster Benedict Peruana (available on Sundays only): Maine lobster, sweet pepper tomatilla sauce, plantain cake, avocado, poached eggs, and hauncaina “hollandaise”
  • Black Widow Cocktail w/ Signature Glass: Maestro Dobel Reposado tequila, Malbec, Triple Sec, orange juice and lime juice mixed with black cherry puree and served in a commemorative Day of the Dead glass rimmed with black salt
