Zea Celebrates Pork of July to Raise Money for Pediatric Brain Cancer Care

Special menu items will benefit Hogs For The Cause

New Orleans, LA (July 1, 2016) – For the second year in a row, Zea is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for pediatric brain cancer care through its signature Pork of July event. With a special menu offered all month long, guests will have multiple options for showing their support.

 

A portion of proceeds from Pork of July menu items will be donated to Hogs For The Cause, the premier funding source for pediatric brain cancer outreach services in the United States. After raising nearly $7,000 in 2015, alongside sister concepts Semolina and Mizado, the polished, casual restaurant hopes to up the ante by giving Zea fans the chance to order special menu items or “feed” a piggy bank at their favorite location between July 1 – July 31.

 

“We are excited to support Hogs for the Cause for the second year in a row. Pork of July allows our guests to both enjoy some exclusive dishes and support pediatric brain cancer care,” said Greg Reggio, creator and co-owner of Zea. “This cause is close to our Zea family’s heart, and we look forward to raising awareness and funds by doing what we do best.”

 

Limited time dishes include Pork Quesadillas, made with smoked pulled pork, shredded cheddar cheese, and house-made chipotle mayo, layered between flour tortillas and served with house-made guacamole. Also up for grabs are the BBQ Potato Chips, thick house-cut sea salted potato chips, drizzled with a white queso, topped with a pecan smoked, pulled pork and a charred jalapeño honey BBQ sauce and pickled red onion.

To compliment these limited time menu items, pork themed cocktails include Coopers’ Craft Bourbon & Bacon Bloody Mary and Coopers’ Craft Old Fashioned. Guests who dine at Zea will also have the chance to win a $250 gift card to the restaurant when they drop their registration slip in the piggy bank. Zea also encourages patrons to toss in their loose change and dollar bills.
