Semolina Gears Up for a World Pasta Celebration
Pasta eatery invites hungry patrons to become a #pastatarian
New Orleans, LA – Summer trips may be winding down, but international travel is still at one’s fingertips here in NOLA – or at least on one’s dinner plate. Local pasta eatery Semolina is taking patrons on a worldwide culinary adventure with its first ever World Pasta Celebration this October, featuring dishes with wine and beer pairings inspired by flavors from around the globe.
Throughout the month of October, the familiar staple of pasta takes on new life at Semolina. Five exclusive menu items, crafted based on the classics found in various destinations, from Europe to Central America, will be available for guests to try. With five full weekends in NOLA’s first official month of autumn, local families, couples, and amateur pasta aficionados have ample opportunity to stop in for a gastronomic getaway. The limited time menu evokes the cultures of the Caribbean, Cuba, Asia and Italy.
Dishes and their suggested pairings include:
- Rasta Pasta: Caribbean inspired grilled jerk marinated chicken breast served over shell pasta with zucchini in a Meyers Dark Rum pineapple cream sauce. Garnished with a grilled pineapple wedge. Suggested pairing: The Crossing Sauvignon Blanc
- Cuban Ropa Vieja: Shredded roasted veal, a sofrito of peppers, onions, garlic and olives tossed in linguine and placed on a layer of black beans. Topped with fried plantain croutons and chopped cilantro. Suggested pairing: Danzante Pinot Grigio
- Yakisoba Miso: Sautéed chicken, shitake mushrooms and yakisoba noodles in a delicate Asian broth. Served with nori and braised pork belly. Topped with bean sprouts and chopped green onion. Suggested pairing: Blue Moon Belgian White Wheat Ale
- Lasagna Ragout: Our signature Semolina lasagna, topped with a ragout of shredded braised veal, Italian sausage, roasted peppers and onions. Finished off with a layer of Fontina, Provolone cheese and grated Parmesan. Suggested pairing: Kaiken Reserva Malbec
- Tiramisu: Classic Italian coffee flavored dessert. Served with fresh whipped cream.
To further sweeten the deal, on World Pasta Day, celebrated on Tuesday, October 25, guests can enjoy all of the World Pasta Celebration dishes and Semolina Classics at half price. The restaurant also invites social media fans to engage with the celebration digitally – any guest who “checks in” to Semolina on Facebook or Yelp will enjoy a free meatball appetizer to kick off their meal. Guests who have spotted this special offer in Semolina’s e-blast may also mention it to their server.
Starting at only $12.95, Semolina’s World Pasta Celebration can be enjoyed from Saturday, October 1-Monday, October 31, 2016. To view the full menu, visit XXX. Fans may also keep up with Semolina’s special promotions on Facebook or Instagram.
