Funds raised during the month will be donated to Hogs for The Cause
New Orleans, LA (June 26, 2017) – From July 1-July 31, Semolina is raising awareness and funds for pediatric brain cancer care by celebrating Pork of July, a fundraiser benefiting Hogs for the Cause. Last year, Semolina raised nearly $10,000 alongside other Taste Buds Management restaurants.
A portion of proceeds from special menu items will benefit the organization, with funds donated specifically to the “Piggy Stardust Team” of Hogs for the Cause. That’s not the only way Semolina fans can show their support for children and families in need; diners can also drop any amount of cash into a special piggy bank at Semolina and, while they’re at it, fill out a registration slip for a chance to win a $250 gift card – to be used toward pasta galore during their next visit.
Menu items benefitting Piggy Stardust competitors throughout July are as follows:
- Serrano Honey Meatballs: Semolina’s signature homemade meatballs with a delicious BBQ sauce that’s sweet, tart and a little spicy
- Cowboy Mac and Cheese: Medley of baked macaroni and cheeses served in a standing wedge stuffed with serrano BBQ pulled pork and draped with rich, creamy cheese sauce and shredded gouda, topped with cilantro and green onion
- Java Chops: Two bone-in soy marinated pork chops, peanut crusted and grilled; served with a cold sesame noodle salad and stir fried veggies
Semolina reservations are available online. Semolina is in Metairie, located within Clearview Mall (4436 Veterans Memorial Blvd.) and can be reached at 504-454-7930. Semolina is the brainchild of Hans Limburg, Gary Darling, and Greg Reggio who together form the innovative culinary and restaurant development company Taste Buds. The idea for Semolina was to take pasta and create a totally sensational taste experience. Its bold approach to cooking resulted in the inspired combinations of flavors, textures and colors that are found in every dish Semolina offers. Semolina has received national recognition from the publication Restaurants and Institutions and was named “Hot Concept” by Nation’s Restaurant News. The Louisiana Restaurant Association named the Taste Buds – Restaurateurs of the Year in 1994. The Buds provide a great working environment, as well; Taste Buds Management was named among “Best Places to Work” in 2016 by New Orleans City Business as well as “Top Workplaces” by The Times-Picayune in 2017.
